National Lighthouse Week (August)
National Lighthouse Week, observed annually during the first week of August, celebrates the historical significance and enduring legacy of lighthouses in maritime navigation and coastal communities. This week highlights efforts to preserve these iconic structures, honoring their role in guiding sailors and protecting coastlines. Come join us as we celebrate the history of the Umpqua River Lighthouse!
Whale Watching (Winter Months)
From November through May, gray whales can be seen best from the Umpqua Lighthouse passing Winchester Bay on their migratory route between Baja California and the Arctic Sea.
Storm Watching (Winter Months)
The Southern Oregon Coast has the best view of thrilling storms set against our rugged coastline. King tides bring enormous waves that draw photographers from around the country.
